How does Full Marks Solution work?

Full Marks Solution is a new treatment that is clinically proven to kill head lice and eliminate eggs when applied on dry hair and combed through with the comb provided. Full Marks Solution has a physical action on the lice causing them to dehydrate (lose water) and die, they can then be removed along with any eggs using the comb provided. Each treatment requires approximately 50ml of solution. As it is low odour treatment, it is more pleasant to use. It also has the added advantage of being a lot quicker than many other treatments.

Facts about head lice:

  • Head lice are small insects (about the size of a sesame seed when fully grown) that live in the hair and on the scalp of humans. They vary in colour from light brown and sometimes appear reddish after a blood meal, as they feed off the human scalp.

  • Head lice have claws on the end of each of their six legs that enable them to cling to the hair and move about. They can only move from one head to another during close prolonged head to head contact - they cannot jump, swim or fly.

  • Once on the head, the female louse carefully lays the fertilised eggs and glues them to the hair close to the scalp where the temperature is right! The eggs take approximately 7 - 10 days to hatch. Once hatched the abandoned egg casings remain, these are referred to as 'nits' and can be removed using a fine metal tooth comb.

  • Head lice do not have a preference for the cleanliness of the hair they live in - an infection can happen in clean and dirty hair.

  • You can't stop your children getting head lice, but with regular detection you can identify an infection early and treat it quickly.

  • The best way to detect head lice is through 'detecting comb'. This should be carried out on an a routine, regular basis but also in response to any risk of infection e.g. outbreak of head lice at school etc.

Ingredients

CONTAINS:

Isopropyl Myristate 50% w/w, Cyclomethicone

Instructions

DIRECTIONS:

3 simple steps to kill and eliminate eggs. Treatment should only take place if a live, moving louse is found. Remember, if someone in the household has a head lice it is recommended that all members are checked as head lice are spread by close head to head contact. Treating everyone with head lice on the same day will minimise the chances or re-infection. Adults, the Elderly and children aged 2 years and above. Step 1: Comb through dry hair with a normal comb to remove any tangles, Shake the bottle, Apply the solution to the dry hair and massage in, ensuring that the entire scalp and all the hair are coated with the solution. Leave on the hair for 10 minutes. Each application requires an average of 50mL of solution, longer/or thicker hair may require more. Step 2: After 10 minutes you can comb through the hair using the special comb provided, to remove dead lice and any eggs. Tip: To ensure a thorough job, divide the hair into four quarters and comb each separately. Take a small section of hair from the quarter and place the teeth of the comb as close as you can to the scalp and comb downwards away from the head to the tips of the hair. After each stroke rinse out the comb to remove any hair and lice and wipe it with a tissue. Once an area of hair is free of lice and eggs, push it to one side and continue until the quarter is completely clear. Once you have treated the whole head in this way, you can wash out the solution using an ordinary non-conditioning shampoo. Conditioner will not be necessary. It may be necessary to wash the hair a couple of times to completely remove the solution. Step 3: Check after 7 days and if live lice are found repeat steps 1 and 2. On day 14 check once more and treat if necessary. Whilst your first application should kill living head lice and eliminate their eggs, it is possible that some eggs may remain and these can hatch within a week. The use of Full Marks Solution on days 7 and/or 14 will break this life cycle that have hatched since the last treatment.

USAGE ADVICE:

One quarter of this bottle should contain sufficient solution to treat a head lice infection on one head. However, you should apply enough to cover scalp and hair to ensure complete success.
