Emla Skin Numbing Patches is a topical anaesthetic that can be applied directly to your skin to temporarily numb the area prior to insertion of IV catheters, blood sampling, vaccinations, minor surgical procedures, including split skin grafting. Emla Skin Numbing Patches contains two ingredients, lidocaine and prilocaine, which work together to block pain signals from reaching your nerves. This creates a numbing effect on the applied area that typically lasts for at least 2 hours, depending on the application and individual factors.

Emla Patch must be applied at least one hour before the start of the procedure. Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose. See pack insert for instructions.
MAXIMUM DOSES
Do not exceed the maximum recommended dose:
Infants 0 up to 3 months - 1 patch
Infants 3 up to 12 months - 2 patches
Children 1 up to 12 years - 5 patches
If skin irritation occurs, stop use immediately and seek medical attention.
For external use only, not to be taken.
Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Do not apply near eyes or on broken skin.
