PBS Update: Yaz, Yasmin and Slinda Now Cheaper – Here’s What You Need to Know
More savings, more options – right at your local pharmacy. As of March 1, several important women’s health medications, including Slinda, Yaz, and Yasmin, have been added to the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS). That means lower prices and greater access to contraceptives and other treatments.
Yaz & Yasmin – Now PBS-listed too
If you’ve been paying full price for Yaz or Yasmin, you’ll now save significantly with a PBS prescription. These brands now cost $6.90 for concession card holders or $31.60 for general patients.
Slinda – Now on the PBS for the first time
Slinda is a progestogen-only contraceptive pill, ideal for women who cannot take estrogen-based birth control. With its PBS listing, Slinda now costs as little as $6.90 for concession card holders or $31.60 for general patients. It’s expected to benefit more than 100,000 Australian women annually.
To access PBS pricing for any of these medications, you must get a new prescription from your doctor that specifically qualifies under the PBS. Existing scripts written before the change won’t qualify for the discounted rate.
What to Do Next
If you’re already taking Slinda, Yaz, or Yasmin, talk to your doctor about getting a new PBS script.
If you're new to these medications, your GP can help determine if one is right for you.
Bring your script to Your Discount Chemist or upload it online and we’ll help you access the savings — whether you shop in-store or order online.
Also Good to Know
A new treatment for endometriosis, Ryeqo (relugolix with estradiol and norethisterone), is now listed on the PBS. This is an important step forward for the approximately one in seven Australian women who live with endometriosis.
The PBS is also expanding support for IVF and fertility treatments, giving Australian women even more affordable healthcare options.
